My wife is a grade school teacher.

In the course of our thirty three year marriage she has thought me that kids
have two ways of playing together.  Interactive play, where they play the
same thing together and parallel play, where they don't necessarily play the
same thing but play side by side at their own games but do interact with
each other.

My sub building is relegated to PARALLEL play time.  She messes around with
her flowers and what not, and I mess around with my sub.  We talk to each
other about both hobbies but she "got hers..... and I got mine!"  ;-)

Sure, I'd like interactive sub play more, but settle for what I get.  I'm
sure when it's finished she'll take a shallow dive or two with me but I
don't even try to get her hands in the project.   I'm just happy for her
funding half the project and listening when I talk about it.  ;-)
