FWIW, I've been pondering the idea of approaching a senior welding student at one of the community/technical colleges. In addition to being significantly less expensive than a professional welder, my thought is that he or she might be less skeptical than a seasoned welder. Likewise with approaching a senior machinist student for the machined parts. [shrug] I have a long ways yet to go before I need to worry about it.
