Re: [PSUBS-MAILIST] a 1atm dry sub or a potential coffin?

Coffin? Let's see, Robert. Did you drive to work today? How much control did
you have over the other drivers? How many cars went by you in the opposite
direction with a closing speed of over a hundred miles per hour? How close did
you come to that pothole? That nail in the road? The guy on the Harley?

You made it to work and home again, eh? That suggests a thoughtful process
with reasonably good equipment. It suggests that you planned the work and worked
the plan. That you didn't spill your coffee in your lap or talk on the cell
phone or fall asleep at the wheel. It suggests that you were successful.

Why? Well, you took care to do things in a way that would reduce risk and
improve the odds of a successful journey. And you probably had enough gas, and a
spare tire and a jack and maybe some jumper cables and a flashlight and a
handful of tools. I'd say that's a pretty good way to do business.

When you get the chance, apply all that to your psub. Design well, build
carefully, maintain religiously--plan your dives and dive your plan. Have
emergency contingencies ready. Take an extra jug of water, and a pee bottle, and a
spare O2 bottle. Make your thrusters detachable. Have a nice big drop weight. Buy
the comm gear. And for God's sake, man--relax and ENJOY the experience!!!!!

Happy Holidays,
Vance Bradley
