Re: [PSUBS-MAILIST] Persistence

Yes Curtis,
I'm working on a K-350.  I have been working on it for two years in my spare time.  I expect to have it ready to dive in the spring of 2004.  It took me longer to get in a position where it was feasible to do the project. That took fifteen years.  (I'm married)  ;-)

How long does it take to build?  It depends on how much spare time you have and how much of it you do yourself.  It's no quick project though!  You better like building things.

I just spent thirty dollars for a hunk of stainless steel, twenty dollars for wire and sixteen hours designing and machining two through hulls to get power to my aft thruster.  I know I could have bought a cable already made up, but I'm in no hurry and preferred to build my own.  It's impossible to say how long it would take you to build a sub.  There are just to many variables.  If you have to count the hours, it may not be a project you want to get into.

I have recently decided on the name for my boat.  "Persistence"  Anyone on the list that is married and wants a boat probably realizes how the name came about.  I tell my wife it's because I had to stick with the project.  As I said, it took me fifteen years to get the green light on this project.  "Persistence" it is!

Thank you Pierre,

I think you are building a submarine now, am I right?  How long does it take?

Anyone else here have a submarine, or working on one?

Thank you, Curtis Uehara
