I don't know Bob.  The fan pulls air into the swamp cooler where the air
coming in has to pass through a fiber mat soaked with water.  This adds
humidity to the air and then is forced out by another fan.  The humid
air moving through warmer air then cools the surrounding air down.  The
fan motors are atleast 1/2 hp, 120VAC.
