Re: [PSUBS-MAILIST] Diesel engine

Back when I was working in the gas fields we had a compressor that had
to be cranked over by hand. It wasn't diesel, but Natural Gas. Anyhow,
we had to rotate the flywheel *backwards* to the point where the
compressor itself put significant resistance to the engine. Let it go
(usually after 3/4 turn of the flywheel), and the suction we had created
in the compressor would literally suck start the engine. Ran like crap
for the first few moments everytime, but after that it'd stay running
literally for months on end. It was a large engine. Too big to use for
a wheeled vehicle.
