RE: [PSUBS-MAILIST] Acrylic Dome

Mike,

I'm afraid I don't think my dome would work for a K350. The reason is its not a 180 degree dome, its only 120 degrees. This was a strategy to prevent the apex from getting too thin as the dome is blown (not cast). It works fine for a frontal dome, but on a vertically mounted dome you would really need those 180 degrees to get your head inside. If you're looking at photos and thinking it really looks like 180 degrees, its because the outer free-flooding dome is 180 degrees.

But to answer your question, the OD is 26.847". The minimum thickness (at apex) is 1.4". The critical pressure is 3,077psi, which using a safety factor of 6 comes down to a design pressure of 513psi, which tranlates to 1,152 fsw.

rgs,

Alec

Hi Alec,

What is the O.D. of your dome and at what depth did you rate it at ? I was
thinking of using
a dome and a acrylic conning tower on my K350.
