Re: [PSUBS-MAILIST] Pressure air drive.



Thanks for your input. I have been considering air power for a few reasons.
The power density is less than lead-acid...But it is cheaper over time. I
also liked how it could be recharged an enless number of times and how simple
the speed controls are. Also, like you mentioned, the tanks may be stored outside
the hull without issue. I was also pondering a dual mode system...Where you could
run open, or into the other tank (probably a bank of somewhat smaller tanks),
depending on depth. Increasing the pressure would increase your dive time, but
I'm not sure that much over 3000psi is practical. A small diesel compressor could
recharge your tanks on the surface...Anyhoo, like you said, it seems
worth some thought.
