My initial post on this dealt with mention in that video of the word "snorkel".
That is the anachronism, that word didn't surface until WWII (unless the
Dutch used it in the 30s on their subs made for Indonesian waters).
The breathing tube concept may well have been used on the Revolutionary
War TURTLE.  I have seen one drawing that showed a tube with a cork stopper.
OTOH the operator is shown wearing a more modern clothing than 1780s
American.
