[PSUBS-MAILIST] Hello, I'm Jay...
Hello, I'm Jay. I'm new to the list and to submersibles except that I'm
SCUBA certified (since the 70's) and have been down 120' in a wetsuit and
1000' in a tourist sub (refurbed from an oil rig inspection sub) in the
Grand Caymans. I am very interested in learning how to build subs and ROVs,
and am especially interested in learning how u/w habitats are built. My
specific interest is in DRY submersibles and habitats that operate at
interior pressures equal to sea level. I am a returning electronics student
who has worked as a technician for a number of years and have mechanical
abilities as well (jet mech in the navy). My goal is to use submarines and
u/w habitats as a means of studying closed/isolated environmental systems
for testing ideas related to living in space and to explore the ocean and
living in the ocean as an added benefit. I know this sounds like a huge
goal, but I believe it can, and will be achieved in future years. I'd just
like to see it pushed along. Are you interested and can you help me
understand the possibilities and limitations in this regard?
Sincerely,
Jay S.
