Re: [PSUBS-MAILIST] Fresh water sub tourism

Well here is a little more info about the submarine
project I am exploring. The submarine we are looking
at for the operation is a Seamagine Seamobile. It uses
a diver tethered to the sub as pilot and tour guide.
Fully ABS classed and coast gaurd certified. The issue
of boat traffic is addressed by a top side tender that
is in constant contact with the submarine and clears
the sub to surface only when the area is clear of boat
traffic.

The insurance is quite reasonable. Since Seamagine
already has 2 existing tour sub operations one in the
Caymans and one in Catalina Island with excellent
track records the insurance rates are very reasonable.
I suppose it would be very hard or exspensive to
insure otherwise.

The depth of Lake Mead reaches 6-700 ft. at some
parts. The submarine can operate without a diver
tether but that would require one qualified pilot in
the cabin eliminating 1 passenger.

The B-29 is at 300 ft.. The area it is at, is off
limits to divers. National Park Service is very
protective of it. About 3 months ago a group of divers
dove it for the first time and took photos. As soon as
the photos were published the area became a no dive
zone.

Although the Seamagine is certified to dive to
300ft.. I believe that ABS rules restrict tour
operations to 150ft. or less. Genrally sub operations
for tours are in the 60-70ft. range.
