RE: [PSUBS-MAILIST] Close cycle gasoline engines
The problem with H2O2 systems is the aging and degradation of the catalyst.
Typically, 1000 seconds is the max for a silver screen mesh before
degradation of it's efficiency. It is shorter for multiple restarts. After
that, it needs to be acid cleaned. The government has developed, but it is
proprietary, a catalyst additive to alcohol (or JP-4, 8) that solves this
problem. This is only good for bipropellant systems. I have not been able to
learn it's composition. The new catalyst was developed at the Navy's China
lake location. If any one knows anything about it, let me know.
