Hi Clipper, i did not answear that because ALL submersibles DO NOT use acrylic, actually i know several subs that use  polycarbonate.
the only advantage of acrylic i see is that it lets 6% more light through than polycarbonate, the advantage of polycarbonate is that it is almost bullet proof and UV resistant!
i had a crack on a 1/2" thick acrylic canopy after 1 year sun exposure in Puerto Rico

What I was really wanting to know is why do almost all submersable use methacrylate reather than lexan. Is it due to cost or realiability or some other reason?
