Bob  I have an aft battery pod in my future design and have found (through
models) that : if the center line of ballast is also centered over the
centerline of gravity (as it is in your diagram with your #1 assumption) the
subs attitude does not change with full or empty ballast tanks.
Further, these concurrent centerlines do not have to in the exact physical
center of the vessel.
