I have been following this thread on electrical failures and would like to
off the following suggestion. I build a lot of stand alone exhibits that are
electro-mechanical and have to work without anyone checking on them or
servicing them as little as possible. While in the construction and testing
phase of the exhibit I test all electrical circuits with a digital multi
meter with clamp on voltage tester. This tool can tell you the start up
amperage being drawn, the normal operating amperage and voltage and what the
highest draw point is. Might be useful for testing your individual systems.
I bought mine from Harbor Freight for $17.00 and it works great. Not as nice
as a $275.00 Fluke clamp on meter, but it works well.
