Re: [PSUBS-MAILIST] Electric Motors

Check with your motor specs, but for 4HP at 24 volts, the motor would drain 120 Amps !
remember power at the screw can not be  more than electric power at the input.
Minn kota is always misleading with the power of their engine
"puissance restituee < puissance consommee", i d ont know fow to say that in english

Jacob, im using a 4 hp 65 lbs thrust 24 volt minnkotta,I drilled and tapped the body filled it full of LPS #4 which is like a wd/40 but its dialectric and i believe its not very flamable its a very light solvent oil and then screwed on a 2.5" rubber pipe plug siliconed the wires were they come out of the motor  i put a kort type nozzle or shroud around the prop.its still has around 50 # thrust x 4 motors i expect them to go to 34 ata's and push the boat at 3 knts and if i wanted to go 6 knts the law of squares says i would need 16 motors. have anice day                                                Mark
