[PSUBS-MAILIST] oils for pressure compensating
I have used the following oils in transformer boxes on a few ROV projects:
http://www.imperialoil.com/pds/voltesso.htm
These are intended primarily as static application electrical insulating oils,
but the viscosity may be low enough to use to pressure compensate an electric
motor - I've never done this myself. This same oil is used in electrical juction
boxes, but clear mineral oil is sometimes used here, too. As I recall, the
mineral oil was used wherever we had fiber optic terminations (probably because
of refractive index?).
