Ray,

I would keep t-shirts, hats, or anything like that separate.  As
Greg has mentioned, some people will have hats and t-shirts by 
the time they get to the convention.  Others may not want the
items at all even if they come with the ticket price.

T-shirts, etc, can be handled separately.  Perhaps have a deadline
by which people order apparel prior to the convention, or take orders
for apparel at the convention for later delivery.

I can send out a few t-shirts of various sizes for purchase at the
convention, but if 100 people attend the convention I won't be able
to put that many shirts together in time for it anyway.
