Underwater Intervention 2003 Issues Call for Papers

The Underwater Intervention Committee is currently accepting abstracts for
technical papers to be presented at the upcoming UI 2003 event, which will
be held Feb. 10-12, 2003 at the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center in New
Orleans, Louisiana. Technical program papers, panels and tutorial sessions
are expected to be expansive and reflect the diversity of the international
underwater industry. The previous conference, held Feb. 27 - Mar. 2, 2002
at the same venue, hosted a large number of standing-room-only
presentations that addressed technological solutions to work in difficult
environments and markets.

As the offshore industry meets the challenge of next-generation depth and
technological demands, it looks to Underwater Intervention for innovative
products and services. The vast and varied inshore industry continues to
adopt new ways of operating to fulfill formidable inspection documentation
and as-built survey requirements. The combined underwater industries are
reaching new levels of sophistication, and Underwater Intervention is
acting as both a catalyst and forum to promote these changes in the
commercial sector.

New Orleans is an ideal location for delegates from these industries --
both domestic and international -- to meet and gain an understanding of
mutual concerns and challenges in the underwater contracting arena.
Underwater Intervention is the world's primary staging ground for
significant breakthroughs that change the paradigm for operations and
technology among underwater contractors.

The core industry groups served by this conference are remarkably varied,
including:
   - Offshore petroleum
   - Submarine cables
   - Survey, search & salvage
   - Marine construction
   - Bridges and highways
   - Nuclear and hydro energy
   - Civil Engineering

Technical Program tracks will span these topics:
   - Commercial Diving, ROVs, and AUVs
   - Training
   - Operations (Discussion of methods and/or job-specific tasks)
   - New Technologies
   - Safety (Regulations, practices and procedures)
   - Civil Engineering (inland projects)
   - Shipwreck Exploration/Salvage

Authors interested in submitting papers should contact Technical Chairman
Howie Doyle at 281-440-0278, fax 281-440-4867, or email a 100 word abstract
directly to hdoyle@doylepublishing.com. The deadline for submission of
abstracts will be September 15, 2002, and final papers will be due December
1, 2002.

Exhibit space is available, including a limited number of prime positions.

Intervention is co-sponsored by the Association of Diving Contractors
