Re: [PSUBS-MAILIST] X400 Test...

All,

About "list-subscribe" difficulties: the problem Jon described is one I've experienced in the past on both dial-up and cable broad-band servers.  I'd submit a "subscribe request", only to get stuck in a loop asking for additional lengthier authentication codes (those you see in Jon's message).  Finally, I'm told my address is invalid, and the process fails.  Looking at the archive, I see others have experienced the same.

Going back over my sent messages, I see I did type in the first authentication code correctly, with one exception: the font.  I believe the subscription messages use what might be TIMES NEW ROMAN (?), and I use ARIAL.  Could this cause a failure?

Anyway, last night Carl sent me an E suggesting I simply "Copy and Paste" the authentication code into the next message to MAJORDOMO, and that worked: I got connected without any requests for additional codes.  I'd suggest anyone having problems signing up use Carl's method.

As far as X400 "receive only" problems go: I can only surmise X400 has something to do with our cable broad-band server, but I seem to be able to send and receive messages at this time.  Will check the archive tonight to confirm.

Pat
