[PSUBS-MAILIST] OK, lets get start with APLS-I....

Hi folks,

After some "test drills" I deside to fix my design borders as follows:

A. - PURPOSE - : non autonomous exploration and working jobs

B. - LIMITS - : 1 person; working deep max. 300m no less than 100m; emergency life support min. 24 hours;

C. - MANEUVERS - :      max. speed ~5-6 kn cruise speed ~2-3kn search speed ~1kn;
                                    good visibility to ground and possibility to check the surrounding area;
                                    capability to hover, turn on the point; manipulator arms

The first project assumtions:
===============================

I.      pressure hull:              1atm; steel; cylinder; top sail , conic ends with domed bottom

II.     views:                         acrylic dome and / or small disk windows; (s/w) rear and top-to ground cams LCD Monitor

III.    cells:                          hard tanks, soft tanks, trimm by shifting wight or bouyancy

IV.   Power source:             car lead cells,  max. speed  mind. C2 discharging cruise speed C10 or higher

V.    Propulsion:                 astern big prop with kort nozzle (slow turning with high efficiency) or two lateral rotating counterclockwise

VI.   outer shape:                no extra second hull --> single hull ship (perhaps with some partial cotings) no stuff jut out !!!

VII.  add. Prop:                   bow and aft truster, vertical truster for hovering

VIII. life support:                  closed circuit rebreather, standard devise, available for scuba diving, thermal insulation from drysuit

IX.   navigation:                   deep gauges, compass, gyroscope, speedometer horizontal and vertical, deep sonar and ahead sonar, UW telefon

X.   working facilities           two manipulator arms (retractable), lights

sounds like a cross-breading between Sgt. Pepper and ROBOCOP .... :-))

coments and suggestions are highly recommended ....

Thanks,

A.
