Hi Vance .. Apollo to Moon and back needs 2430 t fuel for 768810 km
this is equal to 2430.000 kg for 3.0268110-10 inches
or 0.00008 kg per inch or 0.0008 kg per 10inch ..

I don't know how much the density of the Apollo fuel was but with
1 Kg = 1 Liter and 1 galleon equal to 3,785 Liter we get
0.0008/3,785 = 0,0002 galleon for 10 inch.

1 / 0.0002 = 5000 times smaller fuel consuption as the shuttle..
- but Apollo was more or less german engineering.. :-)

And as you know Sabines european small size car need about
1 galleon for 100 Kilometers or 1,609 galleon for 100 statute
miles - but only if we run it not faster than 130 km/h or
81 miles an hour.

A misson to Mars will get much lower figures for galleon per 10inch
as Apollo ..

How much fuel was required by MIR ? She runs 13 years around
the earth ..

Conclusion : Never belive any statistic - never..

:-) Carsten
