Re: [PSUBS-MAILIST] CO = death



Surface boaters are warned that most (all?) cooking-fuel fumes are heavier than air and
combustable, thus any leak tends to create a (literally) explosive atmosphere at the floorboards. 
Apparently it happens often enough in practice to be a real issue.  Surface boats mitigate the
problem with a lot of venting.  Also how they mitigate the CO threat.  

Although, now that I come to think about it, opening a window on a sub would certainly make the
fumes problem less pressing....  ;)

Also, flames and oxygen-rich air are... scary.

It would be efficient to use generated heat (from engines, eg) to advantage in cooking, but I
don't really see how.
