Hello Chris,
I use Autocad 2000LT it has all the tools of Autocad at a fraction of the
price. It costs around $500 but you can search the web for a cheaper price.
I've tried several off the shelf cheaper cad programs( ones you can find at
Wal-mart)they seem cumbersome to me. They are more like a paint program than
a cad program.
I've been using Cad for 11 years and enjoy Autocad. It's what I know. I'm
sure you can find other programs just as good. Take time and look around.
Some programs work in 3D. I find that 2D can work as well for 90 to 95% most
applications.
