[PSUBS-MAILIST] Re: Subs at the dump
Hi, David:
The 'red submersible' ( actually, it's a reddy-orange - not quite
international orange) is the shell of a rig-escape capsule, similar to a
Brukker, but not as big or well-outfitted. The motor is out of it, as is
most of the seating tiers, belts, steering gear, etc. The 'magic' junkyard
is a sort of a junkyard within a junkyard. It is located in East London,
close to the very end of the eastern leg of the British Rail
underground/rail system at Becton. The junkyard is in a heavy industrial
district called 'Canning Town' - They've gathered up the best stuff into a
concentrated pile on the portion of the main junkyard that is leased by the
production company - and added a lot of exotica - such as the rig capsule.
The main staging area, where the projects are 'built', is at one end of the
junkyard that you see, and outside the main holding yard. As far as the
teams finding everything they need by happenstance . . . Well . . ."don't
eat that, Aylmer, that aint soup!"
