[PSUBS-MAILIST] Sub bail out rigs
When I was attending DEMA 2001(diving trade
show) last month, I came across a British company that makes a mini diving
unit called the Mini Breather. The
complete diving unit is contained in a zip up nylon back pack similar to a
hiking pack.
When ready to dive you just unzip the
top, pull out the second stage, turn on the air and go. It has an
integrated buoyancy bladder and provisions for trim weights. It looked to
me that it would make the perfect bail out rig for a psub.
After inspection of the unit first hand, it
appeared that there would also be room in the bag for a mask and compact\light
weight fins like Dacor Trackers. The DOT version has a 3.8 liter cylinder
and the EEC version allows for a 4.6 liter. Seemed to me like it would be
much more practical than a full rig to keep on hand in the sub. Check it out @
mini-breather.com.
