[PSUBS-MAILIST] Re: Kort Nozzles

Greetings:
A good link I recently came across is http://www.harringtonmarine.com  which seems to be located in Michigan.  Take a look at their website when you have time.  The big red nozzle on the home page looks like the one that was pictured recently attached to the "Smuggle Sub" discovered being fabricated in Bogota, Columbia.  No implication intended.  Just a curious resemblance.
Also, I like the "Standard nozzle shapes" page located there.  It shows some good profiles of both foil shape and prop location.

Best Regards, and happy New Year,
Big Dave

Subject: Kort Nozzles

Dear Dave,

I read your summary of kort Nozzles, In my opinion are you right with your conclusions.

I'm a captain on and inland/ sea container vessel which is equipped with 2 kort nozzles. This ship has a speed of appr. 12 knots. In my opinion these nozzles are braking the speed.
We don't get satisfait information from the proppellor manufactuer of this matter. Maybe you can help me a little forward.

Best regards and a happy New Year
