Re: [PSUBS-MAILIST] DEEP WORKER
Interesting- I knew that elevated partial pressures of oxygen were toxic, but I
didn't know that the time factor was that short. Do you mean a *partial
pressure of over 1.6 atm*, or do you mean partial pressures *AT* 1.6 atm
(meaning 1.6 atm total with O2 at 20%)?
I guess I'll peruse the archive!
Thanks- this is something I can easily see coming from a failure standpoint,
but I worry about being uncalibrated as to critical effects, the pO2 issue
being a good example. I'll make sure to get clear on this point.
If nothing else, it firms up my resolve to have backups where an uncontrolled
leak could cause problems.

Hi Craig,
I'd be a little concerned about an O2 bottle letting loose in my
sub and creating a toxic environment in a true worst-case scenario. O2 in
partial pressures over 1.6Atm is problematic for exposures longer than a
few minutes. There are some excellent posts in the archives at psubs.org
on this subject, I believe the subject lines were about bailing out at
depth.
