[PSUBS-MAILIST] "Diving blind"

The 48 passengers aboard the ATLANTIS tourist sub in Kailua-Kona, Hawaii, were amazed to see their Captain come aboard wearing dark glasses, and led by a seeing eye dog; and even more astounded when the dog led him to the cockpit.

 

"He can't really be blind, can he?" one passenger asked her companion.

 

"Of course not," the friend assured her, "it must be some kind of joke."

 

The passengers consoled themselves with this explanation until the hatches were shut and the sub started moving: right toward the surface support boat.  Faster and faster, the ATLANTIS sub surged ahead; closer and closer the surface boat drew; until finally, it looked like a collision was imminent.

 

"God help us" a passenger cried out, "he really IS blind!!!

 

And with that, all 48 paying customers screamed out in terror at their impending doom; but just then, the sub pitched down smoothly and submerged.

 

Up front in the cockpit, the Captain said to his dog: "You know, Rex, one of these days they're going to scream too late, and we're all gonna die!"
