Re: [PSUBS-MAILIST] Re: Interesting idea

Only got a second: working...

A flying sub is totally doable. I've had one on paper for years. Delta
wing. About the size of a BEDE 5. Powered by the same microjet used in a
BD-5J. Build it out of composites: carbon graphite and acrylic for the
pressure hull. Depth capability / hull thickness will be a trade off for
overal flying weight. Wouldn't dive real deep, but it would dive. Mount
the jet on a pylon above the fuselage like a LAKE AMPHIBIAN; inside a
housing that can be alternably opened to admit air and exit thrust, or
closed off fore and aft for watertight integrity when you want to submerge.
Fuselage is a boat hull bottom like the LAKE AMPHIBIAN. Ballast tanks are
the wing interiors. Battery powered E-motors for U/W propulsion. Voila!
The Flying Submarine! Admiral Nelson, look out!

Tony: "Street legal?" OK, no.......but I could probably give the CHP a
pretty good run for their money in something like this!

Gotta run...
