Re: [PSUBS-MAILIST] viewports
To the deepest bottom of the sea..
Give me a diameter, or if conus inside and outside diameter
and I will have a look to :
An American International Standard
Saftey Standard for Pressure Vessels for Human Occupancy
(ASME/ANSI PVHO.1-1987) page 20-23
Or to the german equal as :
Germanischer Lloyd
Rules for Underwater Technology
1988 Edition
Chapter 2 - Submersibles
Anhang II - Acrylglasfenster page 3
9 inch = 25,4 x 9 = 228,6 mm thickness (and why nobody use metric?)
with flat design and a diameter of the window view inside
of :
200 mm = s/Di = 228,6/200 = ?
out of table = much greater as 170 bar /1700 m/ 5600 feet
400 mm = s/Di = 228,6/400 = ? out of table greater as 5600 feet
600 mm = 228,6/600 = 0,378 = 170 bar or 1700 meter or 5600 feet
800 mm = 228,6/800 = 0,286 = 85 bar or 850 meter or 2800 feet
1000 mm = 228,6/1000 = 0,228 = 40 bar or 400 m or 1300 feet
Outside diameter is 1,25 < Do/Di
so outside diameter is D inside x 1,25
as 400/500 and 600/750 and 800/1000 and 1000/1250
temperature is at 10° C
if temperature is higher like on the "black smooker"
diameter must be smaller ..
calculation for flat design like : I---I
and - as ever - without any guaranty or warranty
best regards, Carsten
And CSSX will have two flat viewports diameter
of 700/600 with 110 mm thickness for 250 Meter
(or 27,6 in /23,6 in with 4,3 in thickness for 820 feet)
