Re: [PSUBS-MAILIST] Epilepsy (was: A question for you Scuba guys)

Hi Chris and John!

I'm no doctor, and I don't know anything about epilepsy or what effects
depth pressure might have on it; but:

Chris, only capable, trained, and qualified people should operate SCUBA. I
know you know that, and I know you know why. It seems to me one doctor
might tell you no, but another might say yes. And I've known a couple dive
instructors who would certify anybody with the bucks to pay for the course.
So if you're bound and determined to get a C-card, I'd bet you could
probably find some way of doing it. In my own absolutely worthless
opinion, however, I think you might want to really ask yourself how
necessary and important this is to you; and if it's worth the risk.
Sometimes it seems like dying hurts the survivors most. If you've got
anybody you care about, you might want to factor them into the equasion,
too. It's up to you, brother.

John, the group had a pretty good rap about this a few months back; you can
find it in the Archive under FATALITIES. Phil gave us the technical
low-down in his post on Wednesday, 08 March 2000, at 21:54:13 HRS. He might
have had a couple other good ones in there, too. Also, Carsten, Vance, and
some of the other guys offered a lot of solid information. If you're
interested in hearing what the group had to say about emergencies, escapes,
bailing out, and such, you might enjoy reading this thread.

Hope this helps.

Pat
