Re: [PSUBS-MAILIST] The Navy Speaks: Bubsy is Public Domain

Just a nit,,,Ray is the webmaster for PSUBS.ORG (and a damn good
one), ADR absorbs all costs associated with both the website and
mailing list including the domain name, and the old timers on the list
will recall that 3 years ago we all pitched in to share the cost of the
initial psubs.org domain registration. ( I think there were about 15
people on the list back then) So, many people are responsible for
the success of PSUBS. I bring this up only because I don't want
anyone who contributed to the success of PSUBS to feel that somehow
ownership has filtered down to one person. I know Ray doesn't mind
sharing the spotlight.

Doug, what format are you planning on scanning the book into?
Gif or Jpg images won't help us much because they will be huge files
and frankly I'd be concerned about bandwidth. I have a feeling that if
the Navy is going to depend upon us for publishing this info, we're
going to see more access to it electronically than the handful of
requests they get for hard copies. The best formats would be HTML
where we could literally build a table of contents for each page, PDF
format from adobe, and/or DOC format from Microsoft.

I don't see any problem whatsoever with the Navy linking to us. If
you look at the web site stats you'll see that the military domain is
constantly hitting the PSUBS website. In fact, they are almost
consistently one of the top ten readers of PSUBS. So they might
as well make it official and link to us.

Great work Doug. Thanks for acting as the liason for us.
