Re: [PSUBS-MAILIST] Re: Launching at the boat ramp (was:LangkawiIslands)
For some 'inspiration' on building some kind of
folding-catamaran-trailer-launcher thing, there
are at least two<?> companies that build trimaran
(three-hull) mulithull sailboats that fold their floats
for highway trailering. One is Contour Yachts
[ www.contouryachts.com ], and another (I think)
is Farrier Marine [ www.farriermarine.com ].
Maybe some kind of 'removable' floats could
be fitted to a psub to facilitate launching. Cause
the sub to float higher than normal, then lower it
in deeper water. Sort of like a 'float' version of
flying boat 'beaching gear' I mentioned in another
post.
ALSO, it occurs to me that something like this
could be used for early 'sea trials' of a new psub
to guarantee it stays afloat while systems are
being checked-out on the surface.
