I've only seen the encyclopedia pictures of the Turtle with the helical 
screw, and I didn't realize it was that big.  Perhaps it was roomy for a 
reason.....

I don't think there were any systems for replenishment of oxygen or scrubbing 
of carbon dioxide, thus volume would equate to underwater duration... and 
that would be an important consideration.
