I was thinking about this. The quarter-mile stuff is going to have to
be
done is a very quiet lake. Can you imagine what would happen if your
45-mph submarine suddenly got pointed down? You'd be pretty deep
before you could react. And if it got pointed up, an ejection seat
might
be safer than riding it back into the water.
But it does sound like fun.

Look into the past: back as far as the late 70s, in the NTIS publication
that
lists the annual reports. You'll be surprised at what you can find.
