I'm obviously not Vance, but a few things I have learned from reading the
archives and exchanging posts with others is the following:

Propane tanks are designed for internal pressure as opposed to external.
They are made from unknown or uncertain material.
Most are of relatively thin guage steel.
They stink to high-heaven.
For the same price of a new one, you could have one built by a fabricator
from ideal material.
