I think Karl is a little bit to the left of crazy. His sub is basically a 
K-350 (1/4" thick plate w/internal ribs) and he's DIVING it to 600 plus feet. 
Not only that, he's doing it without a formal testing program, believing 
(apparantly) that being there is half the fun. He has cracked viewports at 
depth on more than one occasion, and that would convince me to turn it into a 
rose planter pretty quick. The glider concept is also out the window as he 
has now added a thruster and batteries.
